It is often said that a newspaper has nothing to do with a blog – and it is certainly true. Some even feel the need to write that their blog is not a newspaper – if it is a blog, it cannot be. However, considering the working method within a newspaper, it is possible to find some similarities. Indeed, since newspapers and magazines have been functioning since almost immemorial time, we can say that these analogies are effective and functional. So, why not apply them to blogging? I've been applying them for a long time, how about you? But let's go in order and analyze everything that journalism can offer a blogger. Index Editorial calendar Catchy titles 5W rule Clear writing Fast writing Sources and documentation Valid content Periodic contents Authority Guidelines Create an editorial calendar Comic book When I attended comics school, in the third year we designed our own magazine. I, perhaps because I was "older", was responsible for the comic book of my group, the humorous comics group.
The teacher had told us about the rudder : in practice it is the planning of the contents of the magazine , a diagram that shows, within a series of rectangles that symbolize as many pages, what Special Data each page of the magazine will contain, from the cover to the back cover. In a blog the journalistic helm is the editorial calendar : the planning of the blog's contents, a scheme that shows, for each day of publication, the article to be written. It is easy to understand how important the rudder is for a newspaper and a magazine: they are publications characterized by a fixed number of contents, therefore the rudder allows you to keep the production of each content under control, the creation of each page, and avoid holes. It happened to me that a designer abandoned the project after having "booked" ten pages of the magazine. What to do? A designer extended her story by two more pages, a teacher gave us two stories about her for a total of 4 pages, I interviewed a cartoonist earning another three pages and inserted a humorous poem of mine.
What to learn from this adventure? A blogger is the editor in chief of his blog and must be able to fill any gaps in the editorial calendar. Write catchy headlines magnetic titles On newsstands a battle is fought every day: a battle based on headlines . But is there another way to attract readers' attention ? Remember the newsboys of the past? No, we are too young to have memories like that. They were boys, more often children, who sold newspapers on the street shouting the titles of the articles . Notice anything familiar? No? Ok, I'll point it out to you: a blogger advertises his blog online by shouting the titles of the posts . It really doesn't do anything else - that's the purpose of the catchy title. Many readers are tired of reading the usual magnetic titles in blogs, titles that promise this and that and then perhaps disappoint their expectations. They are certainly right, I too happened to read one of those titles and then be disappointed. The title of a post is a promise : it must promise the reader that it will really talk about that topic, but above all that it will provide them with all the necessary information, that it will solve the problem it promises to solve.
